Keyboard, on-screen buttons or swipes. Every press is one hop.
Keyboard

| Arrow keys or W A S D | Hop up, left, down or right |
| P or Esc | Pause or resume |
| Enter | Start a game, play again or resume |
| M | Sound on or off |
Buttons and touch

| Press an arrow button | One hop. Hold it to keep hopping. |
| Middle button | Pause or resume (starts a game when none is running) |
| Swipe on the playfield | Hop in the swipe direction |
| Tap the playfield | Hop up, or start or resume when the message box is showing |
Top bar and panels
| Control | What it does |

| Choices | A menu that stays open until you close it: Pause, New game, Sound, On-screen buttons (show or hide) and the theme (Classic or Starport). |
| Register | Claims your name for Grok Frogger scores in this browser. change forgets it. |
| Start game / Restart / Play again | Begins a new game. Restarting abandons the current game without posting it. |
| High scores / Overall | Switch the leaderboard on the right. |
The game pauses by itself when you switch to another tab.
