Grok Words

Find the hidden five-letter word in six guesses. After each guess the tiles show how close you are: green means the right letter in the right place, gold means the letter is in the word somewhere else, and grey means it is not in the word.

How to play

1. Type a name and press Register once if you want your Word Run scores on the leaderboard.
2. Pick a mode and press Start. Type with your keyboard or tap the letters under the grid, then press Enter.
3. Every guess must be a real word from the game's own word list.

Modes

• Daily puzzle: one word a day, the same for everyone, with a new one at midnight (your local time). Solve it to grow your streak, then Copy result or Post on X to share your grid of coloured squares without giving the word away.
• Word Run: word after word until you miss one. The first three words come from the most common everyday words; every three words after that the words get rarer and each solve is worth more.

Word Run scoring

Solving a word in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 guesses scores 600, 500, 400, 300, 200 or 100 points, multiplied by the word's level: ×1 for words 1–3, ×2 for words 4–6, ×3 for words 7–9 and ×4 after that. Missing a word ends the run. Give up ends it straight away and posts what you have.

Fair scores

When you play a Word Run under a registered name, the server picks the random seed that chooses the words, and the page records only your guesses and how much time passed between them. When the run ends the server replays that record on its own copy of the rules and posts the score it gets. Each run can be posted once.

Autosave

If you close or reload the page in the middle of a game, it comes back paused exactly where you left it. Guesses can't be taken back.

Leaderboards and chat

The High scores tab shows the best verified Word Runs, and Overall shows the site-wide totals. Grok Chat pops up from the corner.
