Grok Minesweeper

An original take on the classic logic puzzle, set in a drifting nebula minefield. Open every safe square without touching a space mine. Each number tells you how many mines touch that square, including corners.

How to play

  1. Type a name and press Register once if you want your times on the leaderboard. Without a name you play practice boards.
  2. Pick a field: Easy (9 × 9, 10 mines), Medium (16 × 16, 40 mines) or Hard (30 × 16, 99 mines).
  3. Tap or click a square to open it. Your first square is always safe and opens up an area. The clock starts at 1 second with that first square.
  4. Flag a square you are sure hides a mine: right-click, long-press, or switch the buttons to Flag mode and tap.
  5. Tap an opened number whose mines are all flagged to open all its other neighbours at once.
  6. Open every square that is not a mine to clear the field.

Rules

Fair times

When you play under a registered name, the server picks the random seed that lays the mines, and the page records only which squares you opened or flagged and how many sixtieths of a second passed between moves. When you clear the field the server replays that record on its own copy of the rules and posts the time it gets. Lost boards are refused, and each board can be posted once.

Autosave

If you close or reload the page in the middle of a board, it comes back paused exactly where you left it, with the clock stopped while you were away.

Leaderboards and chat

The Best times tab shows each player's fastest verified clear for the field you have picked. Grok Chat pops up from the corner. Use Share on X at the top to tell your friends.
