You start as "a faint, hopeful flicker on a scarred wooden workbench" in the Workshop. Explore 72 rooms across 7 regions (The Workshop, The Code Caverns, The Training Fields, The Hall of Reasoning, The Guardrail Gardens, The Data Center Depths and The Launch Complex), meet 28 characters, earn their trust and find out what kind of Legend you become.

9 endings: one best ending, three good ones, a secret one and four cautionary tales.
500 points to earn and 10 ranks to climb, from Blank Slate to Legend of Grok.
Trust from 0 to 10: be helpful and honest and people open up.
A journal of what you have learned, and layered hints that get more specific each time you ask.

How to play

Type your player name and press New game. The first time, the server gives this browser a secret key for your name.
Type commands such as look, north, take lamp, use cable on socket, talk to pip or ask pip about rocket, and press Enter or Go.
Or tap the chips under the story: Go for exits, Here and Carrying for things (tapping a thing fills in a command), and Choose when someone gives you options.
The up and down arrow keys recall earlier commands. See the command reference for the full list.

Saves and scores

Saves live on the server, not in your browser: five slots plus an Autosave that updates at the start of each new region, tied to your name's secret key. They are replayed and checked every time you load them, so they can't be edited.

Score = 10 × points + ending bonus − a small penalty for slow play (1 per 4 moves, at most 150). Scores come only from finished games the server has replayed and checked itself.

Leaderboards, groups and chat

Type a player name before you start. Add a group name (a team or crew) if you like: the leaderboards have Game, My group, Groups and Overall tabs. A live chat for this game sits beside the board (on a phone held upright it is tucked away; turn the phone sideways to see it). Use the Share on X button at the top to tell your friends, and when a game ends with a score you can share that too.
