The Legend of D0nald
Short blurb
A light-hearted, family-friendly parody text adventure about a real public figure, told as a cartoon. Guide D0nald from a lemonade stand in Queens through hotel deals, a gold tower, board games, golf, a TV boardroom, campaigns, terms, court cases and a gold-painted ballroom, all the way to the story so far. Solve 17 hands-on puzzles, read the newspaper for clues, assemble four big builds, bounce back from bankruptcy, and find 16 endings. A new daily chapter, one day behind the news, is added as the story goes on. Saves and scores are checked on the server.
Intro
Every legend starts somewhere. For D0nald, it starts on a sunny street in Queens with a wobbly block tower, a lemonade pitcher and very big plans. The game follows the real story in thirteen chapters, from the business years to October 2026. Each chapter has a newspaper clipping that sums up what really happened. Those facts come from the public record, and court cases and elections are described plainly and neutrally. Everything else is make-believe: the puzzles, the jokes, the funny endings and the side characters. Other real people only appear generically, as "the judge", "a rival" or "the reporter". The game takes no political side. It pokes gentle fun at the hats, the gold and the big words, and it never makes fun of anyone for who they are.
What you can do:
- Explore 55 places across 13 chapters, with a tile map that fills in as you go. When a chapter is done, type
outto move on to the next one. - Solve 17 graphical puzzles (plus one recovery puzzle): stack blocks, haggle with sliders, lay out an atrium, place hotels around a board, putt round bunkers, plan a bus tour, punch in election tallies, seat a summit, load a moving van, file court paperwork in order, time a fry station, gild the Oval Office and plan for a storm.
- Read the news: every chapter has a newspaper front page in the Picture panel, plus picture clues such as blueprints, forecasts and seating plans, each with a full text description too.
- Collect pieces for 4 big builds: a lemonade stand, the Tower, a sand-castle wall and the White House ballroom. Building costs Bucks.
- Learn 10 lessons about deals, comebacks and paperwork, and keep a journal along the way.
- Find all 16 endings: the grand win, the story so far, a secret one and 13 funny ones. Each stage either ends funnily or carries on, so experiment.
- Play the daily chapter: pick a day in the Chapter menu. The newest day is chosen for you. Each one is short, has its own puzzle and endings, and has its own leaderboard.
Hit a dead end, such as going broke? The game says so and shows you the way back. Hints and undo are always there too.
Saves and scores: Saves are kept on the server, not in your browser. You get five save slots plus an autosave, all tied to your player name by a secret key. Every save is replayed and checked when you load it. Your final score is 10 times your points (518 in the campaign), plus an ending bonus, minus a small penalty for slow play. Only finished games that the server has replayed and verified reach the leaderboards. Daily chapters have a board of their own for each day.
