Grok Lander

An original moon-landing game. Your Starport shuttle drifts in over a rugged moon. Tilt it, fire the engine in short bursts and set it down gently on one of the flat landing pads before the fuel runs out.

How to play

1. Type a name and press Register once if you want your scores on the leaderboard. Without a name you play practice games.
2. Press Start game (or Enter, or tap the playfield).
3. Tilt with Left and Right and push with Thrust. The engine pushes the way the shuttle's nose points, so tilt to slow down a sideways drift.
4. Touch down on a flat green pad, upright, slowly. The Fall and Drift readouts turn red when you are too fast to land.
5. Each landing takes you to the next moon.

Rules

• You have 3 shuttles and earn an extra one every 3,000 points (up to 5). A crash costs a shuttle and you try the same moon again with a full tank.
• Crashes happen if you hit the rocks, land tilted, come down too fast, or slide sideways too fast.
• Pads marked x2, x3 or x5 multiply your landing score. The smaller pads pay more.
• Difficulty ramps slowly. The first moon has weak gravity, a full tank, three wide pads, gentle hills and generous safe speeds. Each moon adds a little gravity, a faster sideways start, rougher hills, smaller pads, less fuel and stricter landing speeds.
• Flying off one side brings you back on the other.
• A game ends after an hour of play.

Fair scores

When you play under a registered name, the server picks the random seed for your game (and so every moon's terrain), and the page records only which controls you held and when. When the game ends the server replays that record on its own copy of the game rules (whole-number maths, so both give exactly the same result) and posts the score it gets. A score can't be typed in or edited, and each game can be posted once.

Autosave

If you close or reload the page in the middle of a game, it comes back paused exactly where you left it. There is no undo: the record only ever grows.

Leaderboards and chat

The High scores tab shows each player's best verified score and moon, and Overall shows the site-wide totals. Grok Chat pops up from the corner. Use Share on X at the top to tell your friends.
