Grok Starfighter
An original first-person starship flyer: you sit in the cockpit of a Grok starfighter and fly forward through five sectors of space, from the gentle Sunrise Belt to the Dread Gate, where the Dreadnought waits.
How to play
- Type a name and press Register once if you want your scores on the leaderboard. Without a name you play practice flights.
- Pick Cadet or Ace in Choices, then press Start game (or Enter, or tap the view).
- Your ship always flies forward. Steer with the arrows or W A S D, fire lasers with Space and launch a homing missile with Shift at the target in the red lock box.
- Fly through the gold star rings for points and a little shield, steer round or shoot the rocks, and reach the far side of each sector.
The five sectors
- Sunrise Belt: very gentle. Slow drifting asteroids, harmless drones and lots of rings, and hits are soft.
- Comet Lanes: busier rocks, the first Raiders (they shoot back) and a few mines.
- Raider Reach: Raider squadrons and the first Gunship.
- Ion Storm: dense rocks, many mines and several Gunships.
- Dread Gate: the Dreadnought holds the gate and keeps ahead of you until it is destroyed; it fires faster when it is badly hurt.
Flying tricks
- Barrel roll (R): a quick spin that lets enemy shots pass harmlessly. It does not save you from crashing into rocks.
- Boost (E) and Brake (Q): change speed to line up with rings or give yourself time to aim.
- Missiles home in on the nearest enemy ahead. You start with 3; Gunships drop missile packs and Raiders sometimes drop shield cells.
- Mines explode when you fly close, so shoot them or give them a wide berth.
Cadet and Ace
Cadet is the normal campaign. Ace adds about half as many enemies and rocks again and makes every hit a quarter harder. Both share the same leaderboard.
Ships and scoring
You have 3 ships. When your shield runs out you lose a ship and a new one launches with full shields and a moment of invulnerability. Asteroids score 50, drones 100, mines 150, raiders 250, gunships 600 and the Dreadnought 10000 (plus 10 for every hit). Rings score 200 and pick-ups 100. Clearing a sector adds 1000 per sector number, 50 per ring (and 1000 more if you flew through every ring) and 10 per shield point left. Closing the Dread Gate adds 20000 plus 2000 per ship left.
Fair scores
The game records only your control inputs. When a flight ends, the server replays them on its own copy of the game rules and posts the score it computes, so every score on the board is real.
Autosave
If you close or reload the page in the middle of a flight, it comes back paused exactly where you left it.
Leaderboards and chat
The High scores tab shows each player's best verified score and the sector reached, and Overall shows the site-wide totals. Grok Chat pops up from the corner. Use Share on X at the top to tell your friends.
