Grok Command
An original missile-defence game. Warheads are raining down on the six glass domes of the starport. You command three interceptor batteries, Port (left), Hub (centre, a little faster) and Starboard (right). Aim the crosshair ahead of a warhead and fire: the interceptor bursts into an expanding blast ring that destroys anything it touches, and every destroyed warhead blows up too, which can set off a chain.
How to play
- Type a name and press Register once if you want your scores on the leaderboard. Without a name you play practice games.
- Press Start game (or Enter, or tap the playfield).
- Tap or click anywhere in the sky to fire from the nearest battery that still has interceptors. Or move the crosshair with the arrow keys or buttons and fire from a chosen battery with its button.
- Lead your shots: interceptors take a moment to fly, so aim where the warhead will be.
Threats
- Warheads fall in straight lines towards a dome or a battery.
- Cluster warheads (thicker trails, from wave 3) split into two or three partway down.
- Raider bombers (from wave 4) cross the sky dropping warheads.
- Streakers (orange, from wave 5) fall two and a half times faster.
- Seekers (ringed, from wave 6) sidestep blasts that are about to catch them.
- The Nyx mothership arrives every fifth wave: hit it with blasts until its bar is empty before it escapes.
Rules and difficulty
- A battery hit by a warhead is out for the rest of the wave. Every wave all batteries are rebuilt and reloaded.
- After each wave you score 100 for every standing dome and 5 for every unused interceptor, times the wave multiplier (x1 for waves 1 and 2, rising by one every two waves to x6). Every 10,000 points earns a bonus dome, rebuilt after the wave.
- Between waves pick one free power-up: a shield dome that soaks up a hit, faster interceptors, or wider blasts.
- The game ends when no domes are left at the end of a wave.
- Difficulty ramps slowly. Wave 1 sends only 8 slow warheads, one at a time, with 15 interceptors per battery. Each wave adds two warheads, makes them a little faster, sends them in bigger groups and more often, and gives slightly fewer interceptors (down to 10). New threats join one at a time as listed above.
- A game ends after an hour of play.
Fair scores
When you play under a registered name, the server picks the random seed for your game and the page records only your inputs (buttons and taps) and when. When the game ends the server replays that record on its own copy of the game rules (whole-number maths, so both give exactly the same result) and posts the score it gets. A score can't be typed in or edited, and each game can be posted once.
Autosave
If you close or reload the page in the middle of a game, it comes back paused exactly where you left it. There is no undo: the record only ever grows.
Leaderboards and chat
The High scores tab shows each player's best verified score and wave, and Overall shows the site-wide totals. Grok Chat pops up from the corner. Use Share on X at the top to tell your friends.
